When we speak of hosting servers, there are 3 main categories - shared hosting servers, VPS (virtual servers) and dedicated servers. Shared servers accommodate many customers and hence the resources per web hosting account are limited, virtual private servers give you more configuration freedom, but also affect other virtual private web hosting servers on the hardware node if used rashly, and dedicated servers offer you the freedom to perform everything you choose without messing with anyone else.

Why would you need a dedicated servers?

Dedicated servers are normally much more high-priced than shared hosting servers or Virtual Private Servers. Why would anyone, then, want to use them? The answer is very simple. If your company has a resource-consuming site, or simply has very exact web server setup requirements, the most relevant choice would be a dedicated servers. For someone who is ready to invest in safety and dependability, the higher price is not a problem. You receive full root-level access and can utilize 100 percent of the web server's resources without anyone else availing of these resources and interfering with your sites.

Hardware specifications

The majority of web hosting suppliers, including us at .estate, offer different hardware architectures you can choose from in keeping with your necessities. The configurations include different sorts of processors, a different amount of cores, different RAM memory and server hard disk drive sizes and different web traffic quotas. You can choose a web hosting Control Panel, which is a handy software tool if you wish to utilize the dedicated servers for website hosting purposes solely and choose not to resort to a Secure Shell client for all the modifications you will be making. We offer three types of hosting CP software - Hepsia, DirectAdmin and cPanel.

The Control Panel of your choice

If you are a self-reliant Linux OS user (our web servers are powered by Linux or other Unix-based Operating Systems), you could manage your dedicated servers via a Secure Shell terminal only. That, however, could be awkward, even more so if you want to grant full root access to someone else who has less technical abilities than yourself. This is why having hosting Control Panel software pre-installed is a nice idea. The Hepsia Control Panel software tool that we provide does not offer full server root access and is chiefly appropriate for somebody who has a lot of sites that require lots of system resources, but would rather manage the websites, databases and email boxes using an intuitive Control Panel. The DirectAdmin and cPanel web hosting Control Panels, on the other hand, give you complete root-level access and include 3 access levels - root, reseller and user. If you intend to resell web hosting accounts rather than utilizing the dedicated servers only for yourself, you should select one of these two.

Web server monitoring and backup services

Last but not least, there is the issue of monitoring the dedicated servers and of backing it up. In the event of a predicament with your web server, such as a non-responsive Apache or a downtime, it is good to have some kind of monitoring platform activated. Here at .estate the system administrators monitor all dedicated servers for ping timeouts, and, if you order a Managed Services upgrade, they monitor the separate services on the dedicated servers too. Backups are also an additional option - the hosting vendor offers you data backups on our own backup servers. You could pick a type of RAID that would allow you to keep the same data on 2 server hard disk drives as a precaution in case of a server disk drive failure, or in case someone whom you have ranted access deletes something by accident.
